If You're Traveling Northeast, You CANNOT Skip These Breweries

When people think ‘Northeast’ and beer – it’s very possible that the first thing that comes to mind is “New England IPA.” And you know what, that’s ok. New England did make their own style of IPA…and it does rock. But trust me when I say there’s a lot more in the Northeast out there. We set out to discover some of our favorite breweries in the Northeast to give PintPass readers the best beer-drinking opportunities out there. Cheers!

Brooklyn Brewery

Brooklyn, NY

Brooklyn Brewery has a long and esteemed history that starts in the middle-east and ends in the historic borough of Brooklyn.Through what feels like sheer determination, Steve Hindy and downstairs neighbor turned business partner Tom Potter have built Brooklyn Brewery into the icon it is today. Their success has not changed them though. Their tasting room is first – come first – serve  and many people start waiting in line at around 5PM on Fridays for their 6 PM opening. Come see why they just opened a sister brewery in Sweden.

The Veil Brewing

Richmond, VA

This fledgling brewery has been open since just April of 2016. The Veil loves hops – and they aren’t afraid to show it. Their focus on wild ales is unmissable, and they have a certain pride in their rotating roster of beers. Don’t expect to leave with a growler, though. They have a strict no growler rule to ensure quality of every single pour. If you’re lucky you might be able to leave with with your favorite brew in a can though!

Trillium Brewing Company

Boston, MA : Canton, MA

Trillium Brewing grew so fast that they had to open a second brewing location to keep up with demand. Every day at opening they announce the beers that are on tap for the day. Coming by late? Keep up with their Twitter to see what they run out of in real-time. You won’t find Trillium beers outside Massachusetts – so be sure to put this farmhouse-style brewery a destination on your next trip out East. Their taproom is seven days a week – so what’s stopping you?

Dogfish Head Brewing

Milton, DE

When someone says they have over 20 years experience in something, do you tend to trust them? I would. And that’s exactly what you get with Dogfish Head. Since 1995 they have been designing, experimenting, crafting and delivering delicious craft beer. Simply put, they know what works and what doesn’t. They’re not scared to try out wacky flavors that other, younger breweries might be scared of touching. Every year without fail, they seem to have a new unique flavor.

Foam Brewers

Burlington, VT

One read through Foam Brewers’ ‘Ode To Foam’ and you will feel the true love that these brewers have to their beer. They want each beer they create to be proud of the crown of foam that they carefully brew for that specific beer. Their calendar is packed with live music almost every night. Their wheat ale inspired “Disco Lemonade” and IPA “Clockwork” are crafted to pair perfectly with fine cheeses, charcuterie and fresh bread. Looking for something with a bit more substance? They invite food trucks out all the time – so dinner is served!
